EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT - FEBRUARY 2024

EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT - FEBRUARY 2024

Our Employee Spotlight for February is Customer Service Sales Representative John Callis. John lives in Old Forge, the town where he grew up. He likes that he is surrounded by many people from his past, and the house he grew up in, where his mother still lives, is only one street over. This way, he can help her out anytime she needs something. John is married to his wife, Christine. He has a son, Tyler, a stepdaughter, Katie, and two beautiful grandchildren. John’s furry family member is a Jack Russell named “Squigs,” who is basically like his shadow. Let’s get to know more about John.

AL: How long have you been with Action Lift?

It’s been just about two and a half years now.

AL: Briefly, what does your job entail?

I work with the sales and service departments to help gain new and maintain current customers.

AL: Who inspired you to pursue the career you have today?

My parents always instilled in me the desire to work hard for what I want and to always go after and succeed in the goals that I set for myself.

AL: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I will be helping businesses to become more efficient and productive.

AL: What best advice can you give someone who just started their career?

Don’t get discouraged if things aren’t going as planned. Sometimes, you need to step back, take a breath, and regain your focus on what you are looking to accomplish.

AL: What are the most demanding challenges you’ve had at work? How did you overcome them?

In this type of business, my biggest challenge was learning patience. The way I was able to overcome that was by having multiple people who have been in the business much longer than myself. Just to slow it down and keep after what I want, and eventually, it will all come together.

AL: What’s your secret talent that no one knows about?

It’s not really a talent, but I’ve been told I can help people get out of a bad mood with my personality and humor.

AL: When you are at work, how do you motivate yourself?

I just keep the big picture in mind of helping customers maintain their business in the most efficient ways possible.

AL: Regarding successes, which accomplishments are you most proud of?

I am proud of each one of my accomplishments. That tells me that I did everything correctly to get what I had set out to do.

AL: How have you grown professionally while on our team?

I have been in this type of business for over 9 years now, but I have learned so much to help me reach different goals since working at Action Lift.

AL: Tell me something about you that most people don’t know.

I recently got into bushcrafting, basically going out into the woods with minimal supplies, building a shelter from all-natural materials, and then camping out there. It has been and continues to be a learning experience, and I enjoy the peace and beauty of nature.

Thanks for sharing, John!
