EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT - DECEMBER 2023

EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT - DECEMBER 2023

Our Employee Spotlight for December is Steve Ruszin, IT Support Engineer. Steve lives in Pittston Township on a quiet cul-de-sac with little traffic and friendly neighbors who help and look out for each other. He is married to his wife, Lisa, and they have a daughter, Samantha. The furry family members are their dog, Bear, and two cats, Trixie and Princess. Let's get to know more about Steve.

AL: How long have you been with Action Lift?

A little over two years now.

AL: Briefly, what does your job entail?

I help care for all IT equipment here at Action Lift. We administer all aspects of our technology, including Active Directory, Salesforce, Mobile Device Management, etc. We handle all hardware and software issues and end-user requests for help and assistance. We also handle procurement of all IT assets (Servers, desktops, laptops, phones, tablets, etc.)

AL: Who inspired you to pursue the career you have today?

My parents were always a source of support and encouragement. I was also fortunate to have several mentors throughout my career.

AL: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I see myself continuing to support all our users here at Action Lift!

AL: What best advice can you give someone who just started their career?

Be a sponge. You are never too old or experienced to learn. Also, relationships are as meaningful as technical knowledge, so build on those as you develop your technical skills.

AL: What are the most demanding challenges you've had at work? How did you overcome them?

I had minimal exposure to Salesforce coming into Action Lift, but I soon found myself responsible for managing the environment. I threw myself into several different Salesforce trainings to learn and understand the platform quickly.

A: What's your secret talent no one knows about?

My wife tells me I have a nice singing voice. I'm not sure if she's being kind or if it's true.

AL: When you are at work, how do you motivate yourself?

There's always something to do in the IT world, whether handling tickets, keeping up to date by reading tech newsletters/publications, or preventive maintenance. I also try to set goals to learn something new every week.

AL: Regarding successes, which accomplishments are you most proud of?

We completely redid the infrastructure here at AL in record time, successfully moving our most business-critical systems to the cloud while building a workable disaster recovery solution that didn't exist before my arrival.

AL: How have you grown professionally while on our team?

I have learned several new things since joining AL. In my previous role, I was not responsible for networking, so I had to quickly learn how to manage our network and the associated hardware. I have also been studying to become a Salesforce Certified Administrator. I hope to accomplish that feat next year.

AL: Tell me something about you that most people don't know.

Most people probably already know, but I'm a big Philly sports fan, especially the Phillies and the Eagles. I'm also a history, car, and train buff, and I enjoy just about any activity related to those as well.

Thanks for sharing, Steve!
